MERGING OF SCCP, PACO & GCP WITH PIDC.

  • To consolidate and improve the management of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs)State Cement Corporation of Pakistan, Pakistan Automobile Corporation and Ghee Corporation of Pakistan have been merged with PIDC.
  • SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRES (SDCS) IN NORTHERN AREAS.

  • Eight Skill Development Centres (SDCs) are being set up by PIDC in the earthquake affected areas of Muzaffarabad , Bagh , Balakot , and Batgram at a capital cost of Rs.200 million.
  • The land for the Skill Development Centers will be provided by Government of NWFP and Azad Kashmir while the capital expenditure will be incurred by PIDC.
  • These SDCs will provide training in the trades of furniture making , construction skills and hospitality/tourism and other related technical fields as a part of efforts for the poverty reduction and reconstruction activities in the areas of the country ravaged by October 8 , 2005 earthquake.
  • MALAKAND UNIVERSITY , CHAKDARA , DIST .DIR.

  • The Malakand University set up as a joint venture by PIDC with the Government of NWFP at the premises of Dir Forest Industries Complex, Chakdara which was a unit of PIDC.
  • It is facilitating the students of the surrounding areas to have educational facilities for Postgraduate studies near their homes.
  • It has residential and other facilities for the faculty as well as hostels to accommodate the students.
  • SETTING-UP UNIVERSITIES AT THE PREMISES OF BTM & LTM.

  • In pursuance of the decision of CCOP, the land , building and infrastructure of Bolan Textile Mills (BTM), Quetta and Lasbela Textile Mills (LTM), Uthal were utilized to set up universities by the Government of Balochistan.
  • Balochistan University of Information Technologies & Management Science, established at the premises of Bolan Textile Mills has started classes with effect from September, 2004.
  • Lasbela University for Agriculture , Water & Marine Science , located at the premises of Lasbela Textile Mills has started classes with effect from October, 2005.
  • FEASIBLITY STUDIES: Feasibility studies completed: Development of Coal Port/Terminal for imported coal in Pakistan completed.

    Feasibility Study for Development of Coal Port/Terminal for Important Coal in Pakistan for setting up coal based power plants has been undertaken by M/s. Scott Wilson Ltd., UK.

    Feasibility studies process:

  • Developing a vision and Feasibility of Petrochemical Production Facilities in Pakistan.
  • Contract for Developing a Vision and Feasibility of Petrochemical Production Facilities in Pakistan has been signed with M/s. KBA Advanced Technology Pte. Ltd.,Singapore. ENAR Petrotech Services will work as local consultant in association with the international consultants for Conducting the study. The study would be completed by mid of 2009.

    Leather Sector Development Strategy Study.

  • Sector Development Strategies would be undertaken through Strategy Working Group (SWOG) in Leather Sector which has large potential for further growth .International Consults (M/s. J.E. Austin Associates Inc., USA) have been hired through competitive bidding for the above task.
  • Development of National Fertilizer Strategy for Pakistan.

  • Feasibility Study for Development of National Fertilizer strategy for Pakistan for minimization of import And meet local market requirement has been undertaken by M/s Author D.little.
